The Construction Business and Project Management Conference 2025: 3rd Edition
"ADVANCING MULTIDISCIPLINARY APPROACHES FOR SUSTAINABLE CONSTRUCTION AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT"
This was the theme, this year, for the 3rd annual Construction Business and Project Management Conference 2025, that took place at the UCT Graduate School of Business, in Cape Town, South Africa, from the 23rd to the 25th of April.
Conference presenters, panelists and guest speakers, included, Mr Bongani Dladla, the CEO, of the Construction Industry Development Board (the CIDB); Mr Lufuno Ratsiku, the President of the South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP); Mr Theunis Van Zyl, the Founding Director of Van Zyl & Associates; Mr Jacob De La Rey, the Director of Claims and Consulting at HKA Global.
As well as a Special Guest Speaker, the South African Deputy Minister of the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure, Sihle Zikalala.
This was both an on-line and in-person conference, where papers were presented both on-line and in-person.
Fifty-five papers were presented, at the conference, in six sessions, and two rooms, with a Q and A session after each presentation.
Though the papers presented were all well-researched, and it was difficult to pick a winner, the paper, written by Nana Akua Asabea Gyadu-Asiedu, Clinton Aigbavboa and Seyi Stephen; entitled:
' Nature-Based Solutions and Materials Promoting Net-Zero Construction in South Africa: Trends and Insights from Biometric Review ' was picked as the winning paper.
The organising committee included: Professor Abimbola Windapo, from University of Cape Town; Professor Ayodeji Aiyetan, From Durban University of Technology; Professor Justus Ngala Agumba, from Tshwane University of Technology; Professor Modupe Mewomo, from Durban University of Technology; Dr. Nnedinma Umeokafor, from UK, University of Greenwich; Dr. Chikezirim Okorafor, from Durban University of Technology; Dr. Iruka Chijindu Anugwo, from Durban University of Technology; Dr. Kehinde Alade, from University of Cape Town; Dr Amanda Filtane, from University of Cape Town; and Mr Darmarajan Chinasamy, from University of Cape Town.
With Mr Mochelo Lefoka, from University of Cape Town, as the Conference program director.
The six conference sessions were chaired by: Professor Ayodeji Aiyetan, Dr. Senator Okosun, Dr. Iruka Anugwo, Dr. Chikezirim Okorafor, Professor Justus Ngala Agumba, Professor Modupe Mewomo, Professor John Smallwood, Professor Makgopa Tshehla, Mr. Fabio Companie, Dr. Steve Kabemba, Professor Molusiwa Stephan Ramabodu, and Dr. Amanda Filtane.
There is also a special thanks,to the Science and CBPM Committee, who ensured a rigorous and constructive review of the papers presented.
