The International Association of Judges,66 years old. 🎉🎉🎉
In Century City, in the city of Cape Town, The IAJ's many members,from all five continents, met for the 66th time.
The conference lasted five days,from Friday,18th to Wednesday, 23rd.
Three intensive days, were spent on legal issues, the judiciary deal with, on a daily basis.
Sunday, 20th, the program was focused on Artificial intelligence, and it's influence on the Judiciary, all over the world.
Many papers were presented, and much was discussed.
The last two days, was spent, on a well earned break, as everyone took a moment to enjoy the beauty, and splendor of our beautiful country.
The IAJ, was founded in Saltzberg, Austria, in 1953, after the WW2.
Its headquarters are in Rome, Italy.
The IAJ promotes the Rule of Law, and the Independence of the Judiciary.
Its members, are not individuals or govermental. They only take 'Associations of Judges', as their members.
In 2017, the IAJ adopted a new, universal charter, in Santiago, Chile.
To bring about a better understanding, of the judicial systems of member countries.
To date, correct me if I am wrong, there are 92 members, represented from all our five continents.
The International Association of Judges, are one of the oldest, and most prestigious, international organizations of Judges.
They are consultants of the Council of Europe, the International Labour Law(the ILO), and the United Nations Economics and Social council(the ECOSOC).
The IAJ's main purpose, is to reinforce the Independence of the Judiciary, as an essential attribute of the judicial function, together with the protection of the constitutional and moral status of the judiciary, and the guarantee of, fundamental human rights and freedoms.
